1 John 2:15,
"Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him."
As hearts of men desire more and more materialistic possessions and pleasures of this world, the love of the Father declines. Too many people today have turned away from the truth and have chosen to deny God and live for the pleasures of this world. Others have struggled with the truth and their relationship with Jesus, because of how they continue to hold on to certain things in their life that pleases their fleshly desires. The Holy Bible clearly states that we are not to love the things of this world. It is obvious that we are not to love the clearly stated sins of the Bible, such as immorality, hatred, homosexuality, murder, lust, etc.
But I propose this truth: that a deeper level of not loving the things of this world is parallel to not loving anything that is not of God and that not benefit your walk with Christ and the moving of the Holy Spirit. This also includes not loving your carnal dreams, aspirations, goals, interests, that have been derived from your selfish fleshly nature and own human mind. If you love anything that does not align with the Word of Almighty God and His divine will and plan for your life, than the love of the Father is fading in your life.
We must guard ourselves, for as the Bible states: we are in this world as children of God, but we must not be of the world. We are set apart in God and are called to be missionaries unto the lost.
We are to be lights unto the darkness, a city that cannot be hid, the salt of this earth. Let's make difference for Christ, shall we!?!

Great post! I believe it's okay to "enjoy" our aspirations and dreams, but if they get to the point they consume us and we have an emotional attachment to them we get distracted from our true purpose in life. Keep 'em coming!
Welcome aboard Dude! I'm TJ and Melissa's Coffee Master down in Arkansas! Glad to see you in the blogworld...don't slow down!
hey man! welcome... i'm another arkansas friend of tj's. great posts. i think the things you speak of here go right to the heart of seeking first the kingdom of God, and then letting Him add the other stuff. too often we go seeking the other stuff at the expense of seeking first His kingdom. it's also a matter of idolatry too. anything that gets between us and the Father has become an idol in our lives.
